Layag is a language and migration-preparation application offering learning content, exam preparation, progress tools, study reminders, and speaking practice. This Privacy Policy explains how Layag accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the app.
Scope
This policy applies to the Layag Android application, its related website pages, and services directly operated for Layag. It does not replace the privacy policies of third-party services that you independently choose to use.
Data we process
Information you provide
If account features are enabled, Layag may process information you provide to create or manage an account, such as your name, email address, username, preferred language, study goals, and account settings. If you contact support, we process the information included in your message so we can respond.
Study and learning data
Layag may process lesson progress, quiz or practice results, learning streaks, selected learning path, study preferences, speaking scores, and related activity needed to provide progress tracking and personalized learning features.
Microphone, speech, and transcript data
When you intentionally start a speaking-practice feature, Layag accesses the device microphone so your speech can be recognized and evaluated. Depending on your device, language, and the speech/AI service configured in the released app, recognition may occur on-device or audio and/or a transcript may be transmitted securely to a speech-recognition or AI service for processing. Layag does not use microphone access for background surveillance or unrelated recording.
Technical and network data
Layag uses internet connectivity for features that require online access, such as retrieving learning content, syncing account or study data, authentication, cloud-based speech or AI processing, and service security. The app or its service providers may also process limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, diagnose, or improve the service, depending on the libraries included in the production build.
Reminder preferences
If you enable study reminders, Layag stores the reminder time and notification preference needed to schedule the reminder on your device.
Android permissions
Layag does not require SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM or USE_EXACT_ALARM for ordinary study reminders. Daily reminders may be scheduled inexactly because second-level timing is not necessary for this feature.
How we use information
We process information only for purposes connected to Layag's functionality, such as delivering lessons and practice activities, providing speaking recognition or feedback, saving progress, personalizing study experiences, sending reminders you enable, providing support, maintaining account security, preventing abuse, troubleshooting, and improving service reliability.
Layag does not sell personal or sensitive user data.
Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect personal and sensitive information. Network transmissions involving personal or sensitive data should use modern encrypted connections such as HTTPS/TLS. Access to production systems should be limited to authorized personnel and service providers that need access to operate the service.
No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their device and account credentials.
Data retention and deletion
We retain account and study information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Layag, maintain service security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or support legitimate operational needs. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymized where reasonably practicable.
Microphone access is session-based and is used when you intentionally start a speaking feature. Layag does not use the microphone for background surveillance. Unless a feature clearly tells you that an audio recording will be saved, Layag does not intentionally retain raw microphone audio as a user recording after the speaking interaction has been processed. Transcripts, scores, or feedback may be retained as part of your learning history when that functionality is enabled.
If you create a Layag account, you may request deletion of your account and associated data through the app and through our external deletion page: Delete account & data. Certain limited information may be retained where required for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or other legitimate obligations.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or a copy of certain personal information. You can also withdraw optional permissions through Android settings. Disabling microphone access prevents speaking features that require audio input; disabling notifications prevents study reminders but should not block core learning content.

Children
Layag is designed for language-exam and migration preparation and is not intentionally directed to children. If a future version is specifically offered to children in a particular market, this policy and the app's data practices will be updated to reflect the additional requirements that apply.
International data transfers
Because Layag is designed for learners in multiple countries, service providers may process data in countries other than the one where you live. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards should be used for international transfers of personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Layag's features, service providers, legal obligations, or data practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when changes are published. Material changes should also be communicated in the app when appropriate.
